Conrad’s Dynamite Time

On February 15th 1894, an explosion occurred in Greenwich park near the Royal Observatory. The media hysteria around the event came to be called The Greenwich Outrage and became the basis for Joseph Conrad’s 1907 novel, The Secret Agent. This podcast rethinks the novel in the light of the dynamite fiction genre as offering insights into Energy Modernity. I interview Dr. Elizabeth Carolyn Miller and Dr. Devin Griffiths for their thoughts on the topic. This episode is part of a curation hosted by Modernism/Modernity.
